Southern Rising is a symphonic black metal band from Montevideo, Uruguay. 
Formed in early 2020, their style and sound combine modern black metal elements with classical full orchestra passages and choral music arrangements.
Although the project is somehow young, band members are very experienced well known musicians from the local scene, coming from legacy bands from the 90’s such as Requiem Aeternam, Zenith, Angkor-Vat, among others. 
Their first single: Somniphobia, was introduced on February 2020, as an advance of their upcoming album.
Epic Tales of Evil is their debut album, released on October 31st, 2020. Its content has a mixture of pure symphonic black metal pieces, in combination with a cinematic-style story around the album.
On February 2022 they performed for the first time live at Carnival Fest Metal Camp, the biggest metal event in Uruguay, establishing a milestone following the long wait after their album release. From that point forward, the band had performed on several shows and festivals, supporting international acts (Gaerea, for example)
On February 2023 their newest single: Sic Semper Mortis was released, and during the second half of 2023, the band focused on finishing their next record.
After the first shows of the year, on March 9th 2024 the second album was released: Australis Incarnata, marking a milestone for a band of this breed in Uruguay. The album contains the very same attributes that have depicted the project from the beginning: raw black metal roots with sharp riffs, mixed with atmospheric passages, adding a strong orchestral and choral arrangements, but with a polished layer of a serious production.
The band will continue to fulfill commitments during 2024, and to continue presenting their brand new record.

Southern Rising es una banda de black metal sinfónico de Montevideo, Uruguay.

Formada en 2020, su estilo y sonido toma elementos modernos de black metal, para luego combinarlos con pasajes clásicos orquestales y arreglos de música coral.

 

Si bien el projecto es relativamente nuevo, sus miembros son experientes músicos reconocidos de la escena local, que provienen de viejas bandas de los 90s, como Requiem Aeternam, Zenith, Angkor-Vat, entre otras.

El primer sencillo del proyecto: Somniphobia, fue presentado en Febrero 2020, como primer corte promocional de la banda.

Epic Tales of Evil es su álbum debut, lanzado el 31 de Octubre de 2020. El contenido es una mezcla de puro black metal sinfónico,

en combinación con una historia de estilo cinemático construida alrededor del álbum.

 

En Febrero de 2022 se presentaron por primera vez en vivo en el Carnival Fest Metal Camp, el evento de metal más grande de Uruguay,

marcando un hito luego de la larga espera posterior al lanzamiento de su album. A partir de ese momento la banda se ha presentado en

diversos shows y festivales, incluso como telonero de artistas de nivel internacional (como Gaerea, por ejemplo)

 

En Febrero de 2023 su nuevo single: Sic Semper Mortis fue lanzado, y durante la segunda mitad del 2023 la banda se concentró en

finalizar su siguiente trabajo. Luego de los primeros shows del año, el 9 de Marzo de 2024 se lanza el segundo álbum: Australis Incarnata, marcando un hito para una banda de estas características en Uruguay. El disco incluye los atributos que han caracterizado al proyecto desde un principio: raíces crudas de black metal con afilados riffs, mezcladas con pasajes atmosféricos, y sumando a fuertes arreglos orquestales y corales, pero con una pulida corteza de seria producción.

 

La banda seguirá compliendo compromisos durante 2024 para continuar presentando su flamante trabajo.
